Virtual Guitar Designer

Post  Barry on Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:57 pm

Are you currently planning a guitar/bass restoration or got a project in mind? Or, are you just getting tired of basic black and wonder what your baby would look like in a screaming tangerine colour with red pickup mounting rings!? Sometimes it's hard to visualize what the final outcome will look like unless you're very good at that sort of thing. Even then it's still a bit of a fuzzy concept.

I came across this great little online program that will let you play with shapes, colours and hardware and virtually design your dream guitar:

I just used it to play around with the colours and trim I have in mind for my current Aria Pro II Urchin restoration project. I had to use a Gibson SG body to sub for the funky Urchin but it was still very helpful in seeing how everything looks together.

Nice one Barry!

I have seen this before and spent hours creating some really weird and wacky designs - not quite the same as doing it for real though but a heck of a lot cleaner!

Thanks for sharing that mate!

Last time I messed with that thing I ended up with an 8-pickup Tele. I wish there was one for bass.
