Did the company burn down???? Why did they go out of business??

The factory was owned by Singer, and they closed it down, I believe due to a downturn in the sewing machine market (Matsumoku originally made wooden cabinets for singer machines before they started making instruments) and bad exchange rates. There was no fire, or earthquake or anything like that.

I always wondered what happened.

These guitars and basses are too good to be so unfamiliar in todays market.
