Brave John, very brave.

I book marked this as a possible purchase but bottled out after considering the amount needed doing. The MMK's were worth a punt though.

Good luck with this but I would be tempted to have a new body cut from Ash or Mohogany.

Quite the project you got there Corsair. You are certainly feeling your oats on this one. Suspect Suspect

In all seriousness, you are a far more adventuring chap than I previously throught. Good luck to you sir.

It doesn't look too bad to me - I think this may be easier that it appears at first glance. The colour looks to be set into the grain a bit, and if so, wouldn't spend too much time with trying to get down to bare wood. Just get it smooth and pick a new colour. The biggest issue to me looks to be gluing the body back together - hopefully you have enough bits to avoid having to use a lot of filler. After that it looks like you have most parts and should be set - looks like a fun project!

Way to go John!

Just the parts are worth more... great purchase!

If missing some wood pieces, use automotive filler to fill. becomes rock hard and light. use only if going for a solid color....

Will wait with anticipation for your restore thread!

Ya know Corsair, I never realized how big the body on an Urchin actually is, that is to judge by the size of those sandaled feet in that front pic of the body.......... Shocked Shocked scratch Rolling Eyes

4mm... what WERE they thinking at Matt when they came up with that little gem?! Laughing We'll see how it goes; I'm going to make a support piece in the shape of the cavity to help hold it together when it is all glued back together again from some thin 3 ply....

I have my Urchin 'on rotation' in the music room right now, and I was playing her yesterday.
It's been awhile since I've done anything with her, and for all the tears she put me through on the resto, I'd forgotten what a rockin' beast this is. Man, she can really roar! And the best part is that she plays like a Mats despite all the pointy curvy bits! Razz

Oh, yer gonna luv yours John...you know, should you survive the rebuild! clown
