Feel free to add any qualifiers such as specific axe, playing style, musical genre and the like.

Perhaps as important would be which ones you will never play again and why.

!!EDIT!! LaBella --- NOT La Bells..... stupid predictive language app Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elixir nano web. When you have a lot of guitars, and they don't all get played all the time, the Elixir coated strings last a long time. You can play a guitar, put it away for a while, then get it out again, and the strings aren't crusty. And I'm not particularly acidic, but you know what I mean about crusty strings.

They're bright and poppy too. They cost about twice that of other strings, but even if you play them every day, they still last about 4-5 times longer before the tone goes away.

The EBs simply because I've now found my ideal set amongst the loose strings that EB do; 50, 38, 28, 18W, 14 and 10, and they are just the ducks nuts!! I was an devotee of Dean Markley Blue Steel Mediums and I suppose I still am, really, but the gauges fell between what I wanted, and there are no loose strings in the Blue Steel range!! Laughing

Tempted to try the Elixers and may in fact do just that in the not-too-distant future on the Spectrum MX because it has no Backbox on it yet and adjusting the pre-load is a little fiddly... Laughing Laughing

I used to be a D'Addario fan after switching to them from Ernie Ball, Recently found myself in a shop that didn't have them and the man suggested Rotosounds . Gave 'em a go and luuuurve em. Great tone on my strat and last well. Had to restring my Ibanez RG570 recently (it had sat with only 5 strings on for and fancied a play) my local shop didn't have rot's in 10's so got EBs. Way too zingy-won't go there anymore. I was gonna put a set of those neon green strings on my strat (bring back the 80s) any body used them , what did you think, I've read that the finish fades quickly and mutes the tone.

P.S. The scrooge in me likes the extra top E you get with the rotosounds.

Keep pickin'

I know a couple of teenage girls who play the pink strings, but not sure if either one of them could really give the kind of answers we old guys want about tone/quality/longevity.

Yeah, we sell a lot of those at the shop, but I only have one guitar of my own strung wif 'em. As you say, they do last and don't get as "crusty". I find they take a bit of getting used to though...almost a bit "slimy" to the touch at first.

We're kinda high on Ernie Balls these days at Guitars n Amps where I work 3 days a week. I've strung a ton o' guitars in the last few weeks and most are EB's; I'm not surprised Corsair's found what he needs, they have an impressive range of options. (The rest are D'Addario or Martin.)

As for moi? Well Most of the Eames electric herd has D'Addario 9's but a few have variations on that theme...10's, skinny top/fat bottom, and pure nickels being the latest. The acoustics have either 12's or 11's D'Addario or Martins.

A desert island would be rough on unprotected metal so the Elixirs would get the nod I guess. But I'd miss me nickels!

I've got a set of Neon Pink DR Strings on my Atak 2 right now! Cool

Tone? Subpar and muted
Quality? Pink began to wear off my G string after one gig. And off my guitar string, too. Laughing
Longevity? They sound just as bad now as they did when new
Looks? Pretty darn sweet!

EB Regular slinky on the Thunder 1.

Always liked how they play and how they keep tune.

Might not after the upcoming re-fret though Very Happy

Cheers

Put a set of elixir 10s on my strat and love 'em....but £11.50 a pack!..hope they last. Fair comment about the "slimy" feel though, a little odd!

Rotosound 10's, stronger and better than EB slinky, plus a free 1st string.  winner!
