Is there such a thing as this MMK45?

yep; from memory, the APII Mega Metal series had them, amongst others....

I have read somewhere that the "blades" are stick on covers over normal pole pieces.

Second confirmation on the Aria lineage over at the Electra forums. OZC has an '85 APII Knight Warrior that this pup was stock on.
