Rainbow II restoration

Post by Pacyao on Thu Jan 26, 2012 5:25 am

Re-fretted the neck on my Rainbow II and now looks and feels really great! Although the stop tail piece is broken and can't find one to match. Tried using a Gibson but the holes won't match. Thinking about changing the pick-ups to chrome or something besides the gold hardware due to pitting. Any suggestions?

Change the pickup covers or the pickups? Don't change the pickups cause they are MMK75's, thats my suggestion! Very Happy Welcome to the Westone forum by the way.

Have a measure up these fit.

Click on the technical drawing link and scroll down, you'll find 'em.

As for the tailpiece, you'll be lucky, very few and far between. Better off having one made up, it's an odd post size.

What I have seen done is to file out a Gibson style tailpiece to fit on the Westone posts. Not ideal but it works without carving up your guitar.
