The thing that doesn't make sense to me...two things, actually, are:
1) the we3400 Challenger shouldnt have a neck plate.
2) by the catalog and by the example of the one I have, it has the wrong trem bridge.

That makes it more likely that the black one at music go round is a challenger, too, but with yet another trem bridge variation.
It was like the wild west in Korea in the late 80s, it seems.

That's an FT bridge same as they used on early Pantera's

Yep, interesting stringing. Did that ourselves in the 60's when not much dosh and strings were expensive.

And on Dynasties.
And on the 1989 Spectrum 1 and 1A

But it doesn't explain why it is on the Challenger when the catalog specifies it should have a Bendmaster FR. The FR on my yellow Challenger stays in tune better than any other Floyd-style trem I've ever used. I haven't had to adjust the fine tuning knobs in months.

A clue!

(one that I missed earlier)

The neckplate has the serial number as 88 xxx xxxx.
I would guess that means it was built in 1988, before they put out the catalog. Not quite a prototype, but maybe before they finalized what the design specs would be?
