When I had my first guitar, a Thunder Jet, my mate had an Ivory(?) Yamaha  SG1000(?) and that sure was a beautiful thing. He  treated it better than his girlfriend of the time thats for sure. After every session he'd spend as long rubbing it down with silk as we had done playing. My thunder would have had a string wipe at the most.

But for me it would have to be a beautifully capped 250. Maybe one day, the only ones i can actually afford at the moment seem to be hanging in droves from the local cash converters. even when i've been in with the tools to even try to get them playing properly i get treated as a troublemaker...'you sayin our guitars arent playin proper?' 'yes, does anybody here understand what an octave is?, and why your guitars aren't playing them fretted 12 frets higher?' This is the point where we verbally agree i ought to leave.

Don't know of any shops that'll allow you to take your tools in and start fiddling about on their guitars.

No wonder you agreed to leave.

Another one to cross off my list.
The VERY rare Signature Guitar Company guitars.  I just snaked an Oracle for 1/2 what they normally go for.

I like my Westones but although this looks like a generic 80's guitar, it is an absolute joy to play and the sounds are amazing.  There is another one of these on ebay at the moment for 1700 USD.  I wouldn't pay that, but I would put this guitar above all that I own other than one of my PRS's and I own a lot of guitars.

Actually a pawn shop has a Signature Oracle on Ebay at the moment for 499 starting bid - VERY low for these guitars - scoop it up

I always wanted a nice Les Paul - a standard, custom, or classic.  I don't care.  But it should be nice looking, play like buttah, and have tone to die for.  It should feel light and sound heavy.  That is all.

Sounds good to me Colt.

This one - a 2001 Studio Plus in 'Desert Burst' - that I owned a few years ago certainly ticked all the boxes (IMHO), but in the end, it was TOO nice & I was almost frightened to play it just in case I marked it (the lacquer was very soft, as I found out to my cost!).

I just have two LPs now: a very battered wine red Studio with an ugly lump on the back of the headstock where a break was poorly repaired (solid as a rock, but looks like sh*t!); & a black Standard that's been through the wars a bit, too. Not much to look at, it's true, but true workhorses. That said though, they haven't left the guitar stand since I got my Pantera back... Wink

I never really wanted an Explorer, until a 1982 model walked in the door at my store.  I played it and man, it played great after just a little setup work.  They seller was the original owner.  He played it live for 10 years but it had been hanging on his wall for 20 years since.  It had lots of play wear - he had obviously loved it.  And the tone - well it's the best sounding guitar I have.  And it cost about half what a Les Paul Standard/classic would cost.

Explorers... I'm craving an Explorer II, Tobacco burst.  Just a great looking guitar with tons of personality.

Fun guitars. But you'd better be prepared to stand all night. No sitting allowed (or possible!). Razz
