Unidentified model #2

Post by jim on Tue Jul 03, 2012 5:28 pm

Anybody seen THIS go on ebay France lately?

Actualy I missed that listing to my surprise, but did find out it had been
there through this http://guitarz.blogspot.nl/2012/06/1981-westone-doublecut-electric-guitar.html article on
www.guitarz.blogspot.com which also blogged about a few other westones btw.
Nice!
What a lovely archtop this! Almost identical splendid state as one of them featered in the unidentified guitars gallery here.

Brings in mind the Vantage Entertainer model VE-550? Horns are sharper cut here though and the body looks to be slimmer.. mmh?

another http://www.rivercityamps.com/electraforum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3601 on the Elektraforum.
And some Westbury's, like the one pictured here: http://uniqueguitar.blogspot.nl/2011_01_01_archive.html That's all I can come up with for comparison.

Strangest headstock shape I don't really like but wouldn't mind getting used to, for I do like that slender delicate doublecut body shape! It's quiete a looker with those fancy inlaid dots and binding, maybe a bit too much to my personal taste but great workmanship involved for sure. I bet there are MMK-45's in it.

How little do we know about these. I hope someday somebody comes along to tell us some more about it.

Bugger

I saw it a week too late and would have weighed in heavily for it. I want one pretty bad and have even contemplated trying to contact the buyer, which is something that I am not inclined to do.

It very much favors the Aria Pro II PR 1500 so far as pickups, tailpiece, arch top etc but is somewhat different in the cut outs and heel sections. Same control configuration. Very nice looking axe.

Good call ! Even I thought about the Masterpiece for a moment and... forgot about it. The control lay-out, tailpiece, arch top, really give it away! spot on!
Always working on new concepts on all fronts this
may be Nobuaki Hayashi H. Noble short lived prototype that eventually lead to the Aria Masterpiece later on. Changing the upper bout and heel section. And with the bajonet mounted heelless neck design the Thunder and Prestige's Westones had their own inovations added anyway. The Aria pro PE-1000 series is way out of what I could afford.
Especially the older ones. Sure like 'm a lot! But this one... If only I noticed earlier it would have had prob much more than 85 bids!
What a bargain.

No, but thanks for pointing it out! I've clipped the pictures and will update the web site when I'm able.
What a gorgeous model. Reminds me of a Prestige.
