Blue Fade PRS

Post by blackstrat on Fri Jul 13, 2012 5:38 pm

Since some members showed interest I thought I would show you my PRS, This is the only new guitar I have ever purchased, when I saw it I fell in love and it was a totally visual thing, but it was rather pricey and I would never buy a guitar just because it is pretty, it also had to sound and play how I like them to play, and it did and then some. It will be a nice thing to hand down to my son.

I got 2 PRS's currently, not the cheap Korean SE's which I hear are pretty decent for the price. I had 1 other that I had to sell cause I needed the cash at the time.

I have to say they are the best built, best overall production guitars I have played be far. Sorry Westies but they are amazing. Comfy, versatile - but....expensive.

Yes they are very well built and they sound good, but I have Electras that sound as good, I have a few PRS guitars, but I play the Westes and the Arias and Electras more, The prs guitars will always bring a good price, but as far as sound I can't justify paying that kind of money anymore. I like spending less and getting just as good sound.

I llluuurrrvvveee your guitar that fade is awesome. If I walked into a guitar shop and they had that in green i would immediately break out in a sweat (and mebbe the credit card).....would have to think about finding somehere else to live as well. I'm a true sucker for PRS's. They're like the Ducati 916 of the guitar world in as much that they look beautiful from every angle. I've never played one in case they don't live up to my expectations...I'll wait till I've got the money.....

.....Still waiting for that lotto win

In all honesty do they really give you a fair bang for the buck?

A good buddy of mine who gigs 6-8 times a month looked at them but in the end wound up having a Carvin custom built for alot less and the quality is excellent. I think he still paid too much but the ratio didn't seem as out of balance as a PRS.

I own 3 PRS guitars and have owned others, in a nutshell they are gorgeous, and the build quality is quite good, but I have guitars that cost 1/4 the price of a upper end PRS that sound just as good and even better. I don't think any of the guitars that are demanding 4,000 to 6,000 are worth it, but their not worth it to me! But someone else might think the price is justified, love the guitar and pay it. So the guitar is worth it to that person. It is just some pieces of wood put together after all. I have a lovely old Burny LP copy that I didn't pay alot for that to me sounds much better than a few of the PRS guitars I have had, it is not as pretty but the sound is what I am more interested in. I also think Carvin guitars are a better bang for the buck.

I must confess that although I love the look and style of PRS's (never having played one) , my present financial situation if i was able to save the sort of money that one would cost, I would almost definitely buy cheaper and probably but an amp aswell...and most likely still have change. However, if I was suddenly shot into a status of stardom with the finances that that should mean then i would defo have one hanging on the wall. Along with all the other guitar porn that i could find.
