Pics of my Electra X210 OR X935?

Post by blackstrat on Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:53 pm

Someone mentioned that the Electra they saw in my pics of Matsumoku guitars I have, was a X935. But the back of the headstock clearly says X210. It was sold to me as a Omega X210. Now here is my conundrum, in researching the guitar I have found that it does indeed look like a X935. On the Electra River city page they show where the Omega was redesigned in 1982 to look like my guitar, but when you click on pics for a X935, it looks exactly like my guitar. I'm confused!! Anyway here are some pics of my X210X935.

Yours has a carved top, 2 tone & 2 volume knobs, does not have the 5-way rotary switch (Spectrum tone) and 2 toggles for what I am not certain. If it is an Omega it is one I've not run into yet

I am going to cross post this thread over to Electra for the boys to have a gander. Arthur might have the goods on this one though as he has seen more Electras than most all of us here.

Okay BlackStrat, here you go...

Looks like a later example x210 it is. I've just never seen one yet lacking the rotary switch. What are the toggles on your's for?

Still a very sweet example and in quite good nick! cheers

Thanks that does clear it up, they are a wealth of knowledge about Electras over there. What I have ascertained about the toggle switches is, the one closes to the bridge changes to single coil and back to humbucker or a coil splitter. The other switch doesn't do much of anything, only in the middle position can I hear any change, and it is a very slight out of phase sound, in the upper and lower position I can't hear any difference. But the amp makes a slight noise when I flip it back and forth, but like I said I can only hear a difference in the middle position. But I am an old fart and my hearing isn't what it use to be. Thanks again.

This guitar is indeed a later model X210 from Electra and these are great players and solid built guitars. Congrats on a nice one. Arthur aka mortarman120gang11c
