Anyone got any views on this?

Hmmm

I have a feeling it ain't what they are claiming it to be...

I suspect it may be just what they say. ...although I haven't seen one like it before. Having said that, I'm no expert on Westone bases. I have had a quick glance on Westone.info. There is a German catalogue from 1987 with a Thunder III which looks pretty much the same layout, pick-ups etc. LINK

Cheers

hi,
i'm confused a little bit: It has the body(color apple red i guess and a bolt-on-neck)of a thunder IA(version 2 -> westone.info), the electronics of a thunder III (version 2-> westone.info) but the position of the battery compartment doesn't match anything on westone.info and there is no serial-number on the back of the headstock which could indicate the year of production...I contated the seller to find out if there is a serial-number on the neck-plate.

Yes... I wrote to him too and he subsequently has added info to the listing. I'm not convinced it is what he claims it to be. It does look like the III in the link though. I always assumed that the IIIs were through necks and this one is most definitely a bolt on.. Did the III get the bolt on treatment at any point?
