NPD Danelectro Reel Echo

Post by xbarnesx on Wed Apr 10, 2013 7:29 am

one of my pals has given me a Danelectro Reel Echo, it was in his house when he moved in, not working 'if you can fix it you can keep it'

anyone had any experience of these?

Yep, bought one hoping it would be a decent tape delay sim, it wasnt! If memory serves me right the delay time was 1 second and it was noisy, sold it and bought the best analog delay pedal I've ever used in a Behringer vd1 for 20 new. Jobs a goodun

that's interesting
I bought the Behringer VP1 phaser and thought it was ok, liked the effect, maybe a little noisy but that could be mains power rather than batteries
I'd looked at the VD1 and seen very mixed reviews and quiet a lot snobbery

obviously I'll try and get this working and have a play, if I don't like it I have something else to consider

I can understand the snobbery their pedals are aimed at the mega budget market and therefore made with the cheapest components eber, I certainly wouldn't gig with one (vd1, plastic cased pedals etc) but for light home use I can't fault it.
I have no problems with their studio gear however, I use a mx2642 mixer (the infamous mackie copy) and it's tougher than tyson and quiet as a mouse, their rack outboard gear is also decent imo.

well it works sort of
NOISY, pops, crackles, rumbles
gonna take it apart and attack it with switch cleaner and put it back together minus the obligatory 1 screw and see what happens
