Little Jem

Post by Westbone on Thu Aug 15, 2013 6:26 pm

Scored this for pennies.

Cracking guitar. Needs new pots as they're crapped out but still sounds the dogs.
Plays very good with a fat handfull neck, suits me fine. Just felt at home instantly.

Sweet sounding pups around 8.7k, beautiful. Nitro paint. . This is a keeper, warts and all.

Great score !!

I have two of them - One the same as yours and another in cherry red. They are indeed cracking guitars. The Dimarzio neck pickup is particularly good.

Mine are keepers as well.

Beautiful guitar, love those K-10 pups, got em in my Speccy ST, for me they are the best pickups I've heard.

Here ya go....Bart Moon
This is the only pic I have of the full back.

She wasn't in the best of shape when I got her...still needs more work. But I'm too lazy to fill the dings and rust. Sleep

The arched maple cap on this Vantage "Entertainar" is actually hollow under the string pack. Kind of unusual.

Here is my brace of Hondo Double Cuts. I have seen it mentioned on the web that these are known as "Genesis" models but someone is getting mixed up with the Epiphone Genesis, which is broadly similar.

To my mind they are are pretty much like copies of the Yamaha SG range.

The red one is more of a wine red colour. It had a hump at the top of the neck when I got it, so I removed the last 7 or 8 frets, levelled the board and put in new frets at the top of the neck.

I could not get intonation set on the natural one, so as  a stop gap, I stuck on the roller bridge, which has more saddle adjustment than standard.

Both play extremely well and sound the dogs.

Yes Damian - Mini pots, and crap tuners.

Mine are all solid construction. I believe that they did a cave top version too.

Yep, crappy tuners.
Stripped mine down and gave them a good tweak, so far so good.
For how long...fook knows???

Will change the pots and caps to some quality items.

This one is solid bodied.

Weird, good pups and crap tuners/pots. All costs back in the day?
Kind of defeats the object.

But they do play and sound the dogs bollx. Well this one does until you twiddle with the controls. The tone only works on the last bit.
