taking the new thunder to rehersals

Post by beefy thunder1a on Wed Nov 20, 2013 11:33 am

well tonight i'm taking the westone to rehersals instead of a strat and sg or lp , i play in a classic rock covers band so we'll see how she sounds through a wound up jcm800 half stack Very Happy  , the coil split should come in very handy and save me from swapping guitars over , i'll let you know how it gets on  cheers

I did the same thing myself last night - first band practice in over 5 months (don't ask...) & I was able to rock up with my newly-recovered Pantera instead of the usual Les Paul Smile

Certainly surprised the drummer, who hadn't seen the beast since 1991 - in fact, first time he's been speechless (albeit briefly...) since I met him! Wink

What an eye opener that was , we started off with some cream numbers , outside woman blues , sunshine badge , crossroads and a few others , then onto what i didn't expect the thunder to handle , rory gallagher and some taste stuff , but with a wee bit of dialing in of the active eq it was as close as i could get to my old 85 strat with rangemaster into a vox ac15 Cool  then came some jimi numbers and again it carried it out no probs , then some zz top again it was in it's element , most impressed am i cheers  , usually my pedal boar is , tuner , wah , arbiter fuzz face , flyne amps oc44 booster , rory gallagher pedal , and a rotovibe , tonight i took a tuner , wah and rotovibe and it was excellent , roll on next week  , cheers

I took my "Green Monster" Thunder II to a blues session in a pub nearby a while ago. No problem whatsoever. The PEQ tone control came in handy for the single coil type sounds. Very comfortable to play for an entire evening.

As long as the pickups aren't microphonic, these Westone's will handle it all.  I play them proudly.  Screw the establishment with their holy trinity of PRS, Gibson and Fender.
