Neck insert anchors

Post by hoax on Wed Mar 19, 2014 5:15 pm

Just tried these things for the first time today. You know, the threaded insert goes into the neck and you use machine screws to secure the neck to the body.

There are kits on the bay, but by buying the components separately, I got enough to do 5 guitars for 6 pounds, whereas, a kit for one guitar is 9 pounds.

I am really impressed with the results - much tighter neck/body bond and very noticeable increase in resonance when played acoustically.

I will be using them in the future for all of my partscaster teles.

Highly recommended!!

Very interesting indeed, I love how the Korean westone spectrums have them as stock.
is installation easy?

Use a 6mm drill for holes in neck, also open up holes in body to 6mm to allow bolts enough wiggle room to catch anchors.

Easy

Oh Barry!!

My sister in law is over from Mississauga. She goes back tomorrow morning. If I had thought of it earlier, I would have loaned you a Rainbow.

My son is coming over in September and I could have taken it back then.

Probably, a logistical nightmare, but just a thought.

Those inserts are good.
Have you seen the damage they cause when they take a serious blow.

Very kind of you to think of me Graham. You're a dying breed, a gentleman! I appreciate it. Scotland

But you're right, probably too much of a risk traveling over the big water--twice--and God knows what Canada Customs and Toronto airport baggage handlers might do to it!
And, once in my arthritic fingered grasp, you just might not get her back eh? Metal Head

Good point, hadn't thought of that Damian, I could imagine that they would leave quite a mess. To me the difference is worth the risk with partscasters, but maybe not for anything that is hard to replace
