What do you use on your nails?

Post by Adey on Fri Aug 07, 2015 2:14 pm

OK. Not nails per se, but nail polish related.
Does anyone have a favourite nail polish match for Caspian Blue?

Ooo eeerrr misses, nail polish...  Laughing

I'd take a visit to your local Chinese nail bar, usually one on every high street these days.

They have a HUGE variety of shades sure you'll find one to match your eyes....  Laughing

Alternatively go down to your local car paint place(not rattle can shop but pro)and match it up.
Caspian blue is a base coat and then lacquer but for touch ups they'll more than likely have a small sample for around a Lady Godiva or there abouts.

Take a good daylight photo of the colour,  go to tesco and steal whichever varnish is closest Wink

I did it once by accident, the bottle kept falling through the holes in the trolley, so popped it in my pocket, and forgot Wink

I have been mixing my own nail varnish recently. Translucent wine red is a colour I use a lot.

I use half a bottle of clear, add a little red and a tiny amount of black.

I still use a marker pen on the bare wood, but you can build the depth of colour and still see the wood grain.

I've not seriously used nail polish for a finish repair, only as a crude temporary patch to a couple of chips on my Danelectro.

How well does it hold up to the usual sanding/smoothing as compared to CA, and is it ultimately durable enough to last?  confused

Definitely yes,  although it's very easy to apply too thick which will take forever to harden.
If I'm in no hurry to finish I'll apply one thinnest possible coat every couple of days,  it also polishes up much betterer than ca glue.

Thanks. And I presume acetone would dissolve it easily if for any reason you wanted to remove it?
