Since you aren't likely to get a replacement for that bad metal original stop tail. I guess a trapeze style stop is one way of being able to play this thing again.

In this case though, I agree, it's a downright fugly choice! Could have been less intrusive.

I'm sure you can make it squawk. But I'm guessing that there won't be near enough downward string pressure to give the sustain of the original design. On an ES330 style guitar it works just fine, but you have a hollow body to compensate.
