Helicoil repair for stripped out locknut bases

Post by Iceman on Tue Feb 21, 2017 12:01 pm

So much of what would qualify as a tip, trick or fix will be found in the technical section I am certain.

Here is one I posted a few years back to strengthen and improve on a part very common to many Westies with Bendmaster trems... that being the poor quality pot metal Mats used in casting the lock base found above the nut that is use to anchor down the those uniquely shaped clamps which are meant to capture the strings.

Far too often the 4mm tapped holes end up stripped from excessive torque, which is very hard to do with the hardened nature of the spring steel used in Helicoil construction.  The link...

Not at all, Barry.  Smile

So many of the posts in the Technical section really do deserve their own sub forum as you have created here.

Sorting through them all would be a rather clunky undertaking though I would think.  No
