Seymour Duncan 'Triple Shot' Switching Mounting Ring

I originally posted this in the Guitar Gallery forum, but for those of you who don't frequent that haunt I thought you might like to see this too. Caused quite strong difference in opinions too!

I was recently cleaning and adjusting my old trusty '85 Westone Spectrum ST, the one I gigged with quite a bit, 'back in the day' (http://forum.westoneguitars.net/technical-f3/tidying-up-the-trem-peekin-at-the-pups-t623.htm).

I started buggering around with Schaller humbucker that I had put in the bridge back then and it started to get a bit annoying playing with all the wiring combinations to see what sound I preferred. I then did a bit
of research and kicked out his very interesting accessory from Seymour Duncan called a Triple Shot switching mounting ring:

If you've never heard of it and you're a compulsive PUP tinkerer I think you'll find this helpful. You can get 3 distinctive tones from yer HB just by flipping a switch or two...no need to pull out the PUP and rewire! 'Course if you already have an Uncle Mats with a bizillion micro switches which do this kind of thing it's old hat. But fer the guitars that don't come already wired that way it's a great idea methinks.

Yep, it's a pretty good idea.

A few years ago, I sent Duncan an email where I described the Westone UBC pickup concept and also the unique switching system found in the Spectrum FX guitar. A couple of years later, Duncan introduced the P-Rails pickup and later the triple shot ring.

Coincidence? I think not.
