After dismantling the pickup the mess looks like this:
1 red wire sticking up into the air. 2 black wires connected to the white output lead. 1 red wire connected to the red output lead. Mantle of the output connected to the bottom plate.
How should I connect it properly?

The white output lead is the 'hot' /signal wire, the red output lead is for coil tap.
loose red wire - white output 5.7
loose red wire - 2 black wires 5.7
loose red wire - red output 11.2
So output and coil tap are reversed?
The meter readings are fine so the pickup will work once the loose wire is reconnected, you can either leave the output lead as it is and use the whtie wire as coil tap and the red one as signal out, or reverse them (back to the original wiring) if you want the colour coding to match the wiring diagram at westone.info
